Some cars use four-wheel brake discs, some cars use brake discs at the front wheels and brake drums at the rear wheels. What is the difference between brake discs and brake drums?
In the brake drum, hydraulic pressure is applied to the piston, which pushes out the curved brake shoe. The friction material bonded or riveted on the brake shoe presses the inside of the brake drum, slows down the rotation of the brake drum and axle, and then the car will stop, but the brake drum friction generates heat, resulting in expansion. The gas generated by the heating of the friction material is also trapped in the brake shoe and brake drum, weakening the braking capacity. Now the company mainly produces and processes brake discs of various large passenger cars and heavy trucks. It can be processed and customized according to different requirements of customers. Car manufacturers add heat sink or aluminum material to the brake drum to cool the brake drum and metal brake lining, but this is not the solution for high-performance braking devices. The brake disc has another advantage: dirt and gas will be thrown out by the rotating brake disc, and the brake drum will collect dirt. Some brake discs have holes or grooves. Water and gas on the surface of the brake pad and disc friction material can pass through the holes, so that the brake device can play its role immediately.
