    Due to the requirements of cost, durability, cleanness (brake powder) and low temperature efficiency, the friction coefficient (mu) of the original brake pads is generally not very high (about below 0.4), and most of them can not withstand the temperature of more than 300 ℃. Therefore, the efficiency of the brake pads will decline after repeated use. Therefore, replacing high-performance brake pads is the first step for us to modify the brake system. When selecting high-performance brake pads, pay attention not to be greedy for large mu number and ultra-high temperature. Too high friction coefficient will make the brake action become too sensitive when driving at a slow speed. Each touch of the brake pedal will cause the passengers on the vehicle to turn upside down. In addition, the brake disc will also reduce the life due to increased friction. The effect of the high temperature resistant brake pads is not good at low temperatures. For example, the IDIC3 brake pads used by our team start at 300 ℃, so the driver will refuel from time to time while warming up, and use the left foot brake to make the brake pads enter the working temperature. I suggest that general fans can choose "sports" brake pads with operating temperature of 0 ℃ to 500 ℃ and mu value of more than 0.4, which can meet the needs of most situations (IDI, PFC, Ferodo and Projectmu all have this type of choice). It should be reminded that if some brake pads with high starting working temperature are selected, the car owner should be particularly careful when driving in the morning and pay more attention in winter.

    With high temperature resistant "sports" brake leather, of course, matching brake oil is required. The highest standard of common brake oil on the market is DOT5. The dry boiling point of brake oil meeting this standard is 260 ℃. When the temperature of brake caliper piston is higher than this dry boiling point, some brake oil will vaporize. When there is too much air in the hydraulic system, the stroke of the brake pedal will become longer. In serious cases, the brake pedal may be exhausted and the car cannot be stopped! In addition, brake oil is a material with strong "water absorption", and its boiling point will be reduced after penetrating the water in the air (the boiling point of water can only be 100 ℃). Take the common DOT 4 brake oil as an example, the dry boiling point is 230 ℃. When 1% water is penetrated, the boiling point will be reduced to only 118 ℃!! Therefore, if you like to show your car's performance frequently, you should change the brake oil frequently. The brake oil for pure racing (with a dry boiling point of more than 330 ℃) is not only expensive (about 600 yuan/liter), but also needs to be replaced and "emptied" more often (our team needs to replace it after every practice). Unless it is ready to show off on the track, the brake oil above DOT4 should meet the requirements of most fans.
